want to take in Italian culture, hike Cinque Terre. Cinque Terre is a rugged portion of coast in the Italian Riviera and is made up of 5 villages: Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore.  You can hike between all five villages at your own pace with mountains on one side and the sea on the other. Taking the coast trail takes about five hours at a continuous pace. There is a more difficult trail that goes along the ridge if you are looking for something more challenging. Be sure to bring a bathing suit on this hike because you will most definitely get tempted by the sea. Don’t worry about getting tired either! Trains and ferry service connect all the villages as well!

2. Mont Blanc – France, Italy, &  Switzerland

This European hike takes you through three countries and all throughout the Alps. This hikes takes you on a two week circle and has huts to stay in at night. Valleys, meadows, glaciers, and the white peaks on the mountains provide excellent views. This hike is best done during the summer so you can have good weather and this hike has very easy stretches and very difficult areas. Plus since you are going through three different counties, you get to take in three different cultures.

3. Tongariro Northern Circuit – New Zealand

New Zealand is a beautiful country and there are plenty of reasons to go there, but the Tongariro Northern Circuit is another reason! This hike takes you around one of the three volcanoes on the North Island: Mt. Ngauruhoe, which Is featured in Lord of the Rings. This hiking loop is about 19 miles long and your see a variety of landscapes like forest land, desert, and grassy areas. On top of all that, you also get to see Red Crater and Emerald Lakes.  Plan for about 3-4 days to walk the trail and do it in the summer when it is well marked.

John Muir Trail

4. John Muir Trail – California, USA

Beginning in Yosemite National Park and continuing on 215 miles through Ansel Adams Wilderness, Sequoia National Park, King’s Canyon National Park, and ending at Mount Whitney. This is the perfect trail if you are a nature lover this is the hiking trail for you. It’s best to hike this trail in August or September so you can avoid snow and to do the whole trail takes about 30 days. For a more practical hike to this trail in one week sections and do one each summer! This is a moderate to strenuous hike so it is not recommended for beginners. This trail does require a trail permit and you will need to protect your food from bears.

5. Inca Trail – Peru

Often rated in the top 5 hikes in the world, the Inca Trail takes you through the Andes Mountains to Machu Picchu. This four day hike can be done if you are in decent shape and it is wise to take a couple breaks to adjust to the altitude. The landscape is amazing combing nature with the historic ruins of the Incas. Time this hike right and you can end up at Machu Picchu for sunrise ( the best time).  Go from April to October and use an authorized guide. We also recommend getting good boots as some of the terrain can be hard on the feet and ankles.

One of the ways that we continue to honor fallen veterans on Memorial Day each year is the tradition of placing flags on the graves of fallen soldiers at Arlington Cemetery. One of the infantries of the United States Army patrol and make sure that all of the flags remain standing over the weekend. Sadly, this is one of the few last remaining traditions of decorating soldier’s graves as Memorial Day has become largely commercialized once the National Holiday Act of 1971 turned Memorial Day into a three day weekend.

We understand how easy it is to be distracted by your day off and all the fun you will have this long weekend celebrating Memorial Day, but please take a moment to think about the men and women that died to protect our freedom. This is the same freedom that allows you to wake up and celebrate Memorial Day this year however you want and we owe it all to those who served and those who are still serving. Don’t forget to thank a soldier today!

A-tacs is a new and radical advancement in camo design and technology. It was designed to answer the call for better and more effective camouflage system integration for duty personnel in any service branch from military to law enforcement. A-tacs is designed as a universal pattern for a wide range of operational environments with additional supporting colors and design variants to follow. Many of the modern digital camouflage patterns currently in use have flaws. Most digital camo patterns use small square pixels. A-tacs by way of comparison uses very small organically shaped pixels. The end result is that all the hard 90 degree angles of a typical pixel are removed which creates a camo pattern that has a more natural appearance.

The square pixels that are used in the digital patterns to create the distortion effect do not replicate the shapes, forms, and shadows of the environment that are deployed in, especially when viewed through optics. The ninety degree angles and the limited use of natural colors can make detection easier. This then produces a blobbing effect when viewed from a distance. Taking this process a step further the small organically shaped pixels are placed within larger groupings to create a pattern within a pattern. This radical advancement means that A-tacs is able to conceal the operator far more effectively and at greater distances vs. many other camo patterns. The A-tacs camouflage is one of the best on the market and provides the ultimate concealment in the field.

While looking through the goodies, there were some stand out products that we want everyone to know about. Anyone who knows anything about CRKT has heard about the popular Eat’N Tool. The designers at CRKT wanted to come up with something even more popular and function, so now we have the Eat’N Tool XL. So what’s the difference between this tool and original? The mechanisms inside the knife make opening and closing the knife extremely smooth.

Designed by world-renowned knife designer, Ken Onion, the Kershaw Leek is your ultimate sleek and slim, everyday carry knife that is super sharp! The Leek has the ability to cut through a variety of materials without any issues. Wires, tape, paper, and cardboard are just a few of the things we’ve used the Leek for and it’s held up very well.

The comfortable handle designed for the Leek fits most people’s hands fairly well and provides enough grip when using.
