Looking for a new knife or tool? We suggest something from SOG Knives + Tools! Since 1986, SOG has been developing innovative products that perform at a high level in a variety of situations. Whether you are looking for a hunting knife, tactical knife, an everyday carry knife, or a multi tool, SOG is sure to have something to suit your needs.
SOG Specialty Knives was started by Spencer Frazer in 1986 after he was inspired by a unique combat knife carried by a highly classified U.S. Special Ops unit called MACV-SOG during their time in Vietnam. Frazer’s mission was to reproduce the original SOG bowie knife. This then led to developing a whole line of innovative products.
One of the products new to our SOG selection this year is the SOG Blade Light Folder. This pocket knife has 6 led lights built in to the handle. The lights are on either side of the blade and provide a shadowless light while cutting. The lights can still be turned on while the blade is closed, which can come in handy in different situations. This knife is super functional and there isn’t really anything else like it on the market.
Another cool knife from SOG is the SOG Jungle Primitive Fixed Blade Knife. With a blade length of 9.5 inches and a partially serrated edge, this knife is perfect for using outdoors. The Jungle Primitive can be used as a machete, limb saw, and a hammer. It comes with a sheath so you can easily take it on your outdoor adventures.
If you looking for something a little more compact and on the creative side, check out the SOG Snarl. Its like brass knuckles, but with a SOG knife. This knife also comes with a sheath that can be worn on your belt or around your neck to conceal your knife.
SOG has so many amazing products that are innovative and extremely durable. Each product is designed with function in mind. Whether your buying a SOG fixed blade, folder, tomahawk, or even one of their Dark Energy flashlights, you won’t be disappointed! On an almost daily basis customers come in wanting to see items from Cold Steel. This is mostly due to the crazy videos Cold Steel puts out on the internet, but these products are pretty cool. Cold Steel boasts that they have the “World’s Strongest, Sharpest Knives.” Whether that is actually true, we don’t know, but these knives are pretty sharp out of the box. Cold Steel’s goal for over 30 years has been to keep producing the sharpest, strongest knives on the market and in the process they have had success in creating unique and innovative products.
New this spring to Harry’s is the Cold Steel FGX Karambit. This fixed blade knife is made out of Griv-Ex which is extremely strong reinforced fiberglass. Basically, this is a non metallic knife. This material also makes this knife super lightweight and unaffected by heat, cold, and moisture. The curved blade is also pretty unique. Another awesome product is the Cold Steel Kukri Machete. This machete can really do it all! Cut, scrape, chop, slash, hack, dig, you name it and the Kukri will do it! This machete comes with its own sheath as well.
If you are looking for something more…..practical, then check out the American Lawman Plain Edge Folding Knife. Built like a tank this pocket knife is super durable and has an extremely strong lock. The blade also has a black coating to aid in corrosion resistance. This would be a great option as an everyday carry knife.
If you are looking for a super sharp blade or just looking for a ultra cool tool, we would suggest getting something from Cold Steel. Browse our whole selection of Cold Steel products online or shop our selection in store.

While looking through the goodies, there were some stand out products that we want everyone to know about. Anyone who knows anything about CRKT has heard about the popular Eat’N Tool. The designers at CRKT wanted to come up with something even more popular and function, so now we have the Eat’N Tool XL. So what’s the difference between this tool and original? Well firstly, the handle is longer making it easier to hold on to. The spoon is also larger. The XL version also features a can opener, an essential when out on the trail. The XL was made with all of the original features too like the bottle opener, 2 hex wrenches, carabiner, and driver.
Getting into the knives, the Otanashi noh Ken Clip Point Folding Knife is definitely the one for you if you’re into a more streamlined looked. It’s almost like carrying around a mini samurai sword rather than a pocket knife. The black coating on thee blade provides corrosion resistance and adds to the sleek, tactical look. The overall length of this knife is just over 10 inches and the blade length is about 4.5 inches. This is a pretty good sized knife, but the way it was designed makes it pretty easy to conceal.
Another cool knife that came in has been designed by the world renown knife designer, Ken Onion. That alone made us extremely interested in the Black Foresight Combo Edge Knife. This knife is a perfect example of how for follows function. Designed to offer maximum control, the handle is made with cold forged aluminum and finger shaped grooves, providing comfort. The mechanisms inside the knife make opening and closing the knife extremely smooth.

Designed by world-renowned knife designer, Ken Onion, the Kershaw Leek is your ultimate sleek and slim, everyday carry knife that is super sharp! The Leek has the ability to cut through a variety of materials without any issues. Wires, tape, paper, and cardboard are just a few of the things we’ve used the Leek for and it’s held up very well.
The comfortable handle designed for the Leek fits most people’s hands fairly well and provides enough grip when using. There is also a pocket clip that Kershaw has added to the Leek that allows you to carry it either tip up or tip down. Although, if you mount it tip up, a small portion of the handle sticks out, it is still comfortable to carry and stays concealed.
One of the greatest features on the Leek is the Kershaw Speed Safe system. Extremely fast, almost as soon as your thumb applies pressure to the thumbstuds, the blade will shoot out and be ready to use. It was designed to be a one-handed knife so you are able to open the blade with only one hand.
The locking mechanism that Kershaw has used for the Leek is extremely durable and will keep the knife from opening accidentally which is an awesome safety feature.
Lastly, as the Leek is proudly made in the USA, we’re proud to recommend a durable, inexpensive, everyday carry knife that anyone can afford!
When shopping for a knife, the biggest question to consider is, “What will I be using the knife for?” Once you figure out the main purpose for the knife, it’s much easier to narrow down the specifics such as blade type and style. We’ll go over some knife basics and help you choose the right knife for the job.
- Drop-Point. This is a good all around blade suitable for many uses. Similar to a clip-point but with a more convex curve on the spine where it meets the tip of the blade. Stronger tip but not really good for piercing.
- Tanto. This blade has sharp straight angles and a strong tip. Good for piercing.
- Clip-Point. This blade is similar to a drop-point, but with a concave curve on the spine of the blade. One of the most popular styles for a reason, very versatile. Sharper tip makes for cutting in tight places or piercing.
- Normal. A straight back and curving edge. Good for thrusting, chopping and cutting.
Blade steels are usually different blends of stainless steel. Different alloys give benefits over plain stainless steel. Vanadium added to stainless steel improves strength and ease of sharpening. Carbon steel is stronger and tougher than stainless steel and easier to sharpen, however without the chromium of stainless steel it is more apt to rusting. Manufacturers like to use their own custom blends of steel, so it’s advisable to check the blade material on a knife you are considering to make sure it will hold up to the job. Remember, no matter the material, a blade will dull with use.
Fixed or Folder?
Should you choose a fixed blade knife or a folding blade? It again depends on the use. A fixed blade knife will be stronger due to the fact that the blade is one piece and there are no joints or moving pieces. A folding knife may be more convenient since the blade folds into the handle making it smaller and easier to carry.
Serrated or Plain Edge?
Whether you want a plain edge or serrated blade depends on the type of cutting you are going to be doing. A plain edge is great for smooth cuts, slicing and piercing. A serrated edge is good for rough cutting and sawing. An all around compromise is a partially serrated blade, which gives more versatility.
What kind of material the handle is made out of depends on preference. If you are going to be using your knife in damp environments, you might not want a stainless steel handle that is smooth. Handles are made in different types of plastic, metal, even bone or wood. The handle may be textured or smooth. Once again, it would depend on what you are using the knife for. If you are working around a lot of chemicals or blood borne pathogens, you would need something non-absorbent like metal, not wood. Metal handles can get colder than other materials, so if you are outdoors in the cold, a metal handle might not be the best option.

Harry’s Army Surplus just received a great new knife. This blade is GORGEOUS! The Zero Tolerance Scavenger Knife (model 0400) is from the Kai family of high end blades (Kai USA being the parent company to Kershaw Knives as well) and is geared towards the “line of duty” fields, though as an everyday carry (EDC) it would be a great choice. The shape itself is designed by Ken Onion, whom is very well known in the world of knife crafting, and sports a SpeedSafe® manual assisted opening modified tanto style blade cast in high end S30V steel. The scales (handle) on the front have Trac-Tec grip tape inserts for a secure hold, while the back scales do not, allowing for easier “in-and-out” of the pocket when clipped. The black finish is not just a pretty paint job either! That is Tungsten DLC (Diamond Like Coating) which is going to protect that blade from just about anything the elements can throw at it!
The blade composition and Tungsten DLC make the Kershaw Zero Tolerance Knife 0400 Scavenger a PERFECT choice for anyone in police, military, emt/paramedic, fire fighting line of work. The S30V steel, developed by the crucible Materials Corporation, boasts an even distribution of vanadium carbides which makes it harder and have a superior cutting edge. This high end steel is also very resistant to corrosion, rust, and wear! Top that with the DLC coating and you have yourself a blade you can use and not have to worry if its going to chip, scratch, dull, or rust as easily in battle/rescue/work.
Supply on the new Zero Tolerance is very limited so if you’re looking to buy this Zero tolerance knife in-store or online, please call to order or drop in before they’re gone
Looking for more information? Here’s what the manufacturer has to say about it:
This Tanto-style military folding knife from ZT features SpeedSafe® manual assisted opening for one-handed blade deployment. Just push on the ambidextrous thumb stud or pull back on the blade protrusion. The modified Tanto blade in S30V stainless steel provides extreme strength and is coated with Tungsten DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) for a non-reflective matte-black finish. The 0400 is one of the thinner folding knives in the ZT line, which makes it excellent for compact carry. While the front scale features friction-tape inserts for a secure grip, the back scale does not have the tape, enabling an easier draw and storage in the pocket. A 5/16-inch pivot shaft adjustment enables tighter or looser blade deployment. Includes a dual mounting system for tip-up or tip-down, right-handed clip carry.
